SHUTTLE LIFE, AQERAT, FLOWER IN THE POCKET, LAGI SENANG JAGA SEKANDANG LEMBU & KAMPUNG TAPIR TO REPRESENT MALAYSIA AT SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (SGIFF)
Three Malaysian feature films by award winning filmmakers will be featured at 28th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) namely Tan Seng Kiat’s ‘Shuttle Life’ which has already bagged six international awards and competing for Best Asian Feature (Silver Screen Awards) at SGIFF, ‘Aqerat’ by Edmund Yeo for its Singapore Premiere and special screening of Liew Seng Tat’s critically acclaimed ‘Flower in the Pocket’ who is also one of the mentors in the festival’s Southeast Asian Film Lab.
In addition, two short films developed at ASTRO & FINAS Shortcuts Workshop 2016 ;“Kampung Tapir” by Aw See Wee that depicts the struggle and emotional journey of Anne in choosing her destiny and Amanda Nell Eu’s Lagi Senang Jaga Sekandang Lembu that was featured in Venice Film Festival 2017 about two teenage outcasts at a kampung have also been selected in the South-East Asian Short Film Competition.
In conjuction with 28th SGIFF, the Southeast Asian Film Lab organized as a story development workshop for emerging filmmakers from Southeast Asia embarking on their first feature-length film has selected Malaysian young filmmakers, Amanda Nell Eu with her first feature project, “Tiger Stripes” and Vishnu Perumal’s work titled “Spiritualized”.The lab anchored by two award winning mentors, Moulya Surya (Indonesia) and Liew Seng Tat (Malaysia) will end with a pitch in front of an industry panel for the development prize and awarded at Silver Screen Awards.
