CANNES, June 7th-The Ministry of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia has successfully achieved its strategic mission to highly promote Malaysian music industry through the international platform, Midem or Marché International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale which took place from 3rd-6th June 2016 at Palais De Festival in Cannes, France. The trade show, which is billed as the leading international business event for the music ecosystem and for this year, Malaysia delegates have been highly exposed with series of meetings, networking engagements, global forum, music performance and business opportunities with international labels, publishers, big tech companies, government agencies and producers all over the world.
According to Head of Delegation, Puan Khalidah Mohd Darus, Deputy Director General of FINAS who represented the Ministry, MIDEM 2016 has significantly provided strategic platform for 15 local companies and 35 delegates to build their global network with international key players in the world music industry which has also driven them to sign MoUs with international labels. Besides, Malaysian producers namely Bunkface Production, Faithful Music, Livescape Group, Breaking Records and Jazzy Group have fully utilized the Malaysia Pavilion to exchange business views and understand the principles and practices of current global market which is vividly important to develop models and frameworks in Malaysia. Therefore, by looking at the government to government strategic network at MIDEM, Khalidah has been given opportunity to promote Malaysia as the new rising creative content hub to other foreign countries like Korea, Japan, Taiwan, US and others which is ultimately essential to highlight the government mission to progressively transform this creative industry as an economic driven industry where local content can be exported internationally.
