“Tiger Stripes” by Malaysian filmmaker Amanda Nell Eu has been successfully selected to receive development grant worth €10,000 under HBF Bright Future from The Hubert Bals Fund of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). Selected 11 projects by both upcoming talents and established filmmakers to receive €10,000 each for Script and Project Development, the Hubert Bals Fund designed to help remarkable or urgent feature films by innovative and talented filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe on their road to completion.
Previously known for her critically acclaimed short film “Lagi Senang Jaga Sekandang Lembu” which was in competition in the 74th Venice Film Festival 2017, Amanda’s feature length debut “Tiger Stripes” tells about 11-year-old Zaffan, a confident and free-spirited girl, until she experiences horrifying physical changes to her body. While her emotions and urges are constantly flipping from one extreme to the next, she realises that her body itself is morphing at an alarming and frightening rate.
